Sudarshana Homa is a sacred Vedic ritual performed to invoke the blessings of Lord Sudarshana, who is considered the divine weapon (chakra or discus) of Lord Vishnu. The Sudarshana Chakra is believed to possess immense power and is regarded as a symbol of protection and the destruction of evil forces. The Sudarshana Homa is performed to seek relief from obstacles, illnesses, and other challenges and to attain overall well-being.
Rituals During Sudarshana Homa :
- Ganapati Puja:
- The ceremony typically begins with the invocation of Lord Ganesha, the remover of obstacles. This is done to ensure the smooth conduct of the Homa.
- Sankalpa:
- The priest or the performer makes a vow (sankalpa) to perform the Homa with a specific purpose, such as seeking protection, relief from troubles, or overall well-being.
- Kalash Sthapana:
- A kalasha (sacred pot) is established, representing the divine presence, and filled with water, flowers, and leaves.
- Sudarshana Mula Mantra Japa:
- Chanting of the Sudarshana Mula Mantra is performed. The mantra is dedicated to Lord Sudarshana, seeking his blessings.
- Homam:
- The main aspect of the ritual involves offerings (ahuti) into the sacred fire, accompanied by the continuous chanting of specific mantras dedicated to Lord Sudarshana.
- Purnahuti:
- The culmination of the Homa involves offering a final oblation (purnahuti) to the divine forces, expressing gratitude, and seeking blessings.
- Distribution of Prasadam:
- Prasadam (blessed food) is then distributed to the participants, symbolizing the sharing of divine blessings.
Note: 1. Puja Samagries like Turmeric, Kumkum, Coconuts, Mango leaves, Tulasi, Darba, Rice, Kalasha, Vastra, Navadhanya, Jackets, Beetle Leaves, Beetle Nuts, Homa Sticks, Samidha, Dravyas, Ghee, Havan Kund etc. will be brought by us.
2. Yajaman have to keep house items like Vessels, Deepa, Mats, Bowls-4, Milk 1kg, Curd 1/2 ltr, Sugar, Plates-6, Photos/idols etc.
